Bhadrak, Jul 2: A flood-like situation has emerged in parts of Bhadrak district following this the authorities have opened three gates of Hadagarh dam to release the excess water.
According to reports, Salandi River is now flowing above normal levels. As a result, floodwaters have entered agricultural fields and low-lying villages in Khantatara, Arnnapal, and Bishnupur panchayats under Bhadrak and Tihidi blocks.
Several farmlands have also submerged, raising concerns over crop damage and displacement of residents.
Following this, the authorities decided the open the dam gates.
The situation is being closely monitored by district authorities, and precautionary measures are being taken to prevent further inundation.
Villagers have been urged to remain alert, especially in vulnerable areas, as more rain is expected under the influence of a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal.
