Bhadrak, Feb 3: In an unexpected move, Bhadrak District Collector Dilip Routrai visited paddy mandi Sunday stunning the Katsahi Service Cooperative Society under Dhamnagar block.

As per the report, the Bhadrak district administration has swung into action following complaints from farmers regarding the irregularities in the sale of paddy in the district.

Routray, disguising himself as a farmer, visited the mandi along with the District Supply Officer and Additional District Supply Officer to inspect the situation. The Bhadrak District Collector was dressed in plain clothes -- half pant, T-shirt, face mask, cap and a white towel on the shoulder.

During inspection, Routray found out about the irregularities and unlawful handling of paddy in the service cooperative society. The district administrators also found evidences of exploitation of farmers by the cooperative society officials.

The Additional District Supply Officer has issued a show-cause notice to the officials of the Katsahi Service Cooperative Society. The move by the District Collector and administrators has created a fear among the cooperative society officials.

The issue of farmers being exploited has become a topic of discussion in the district. After the move was known to public, the district collector has been praised everywhere for such diligence and stealth action.
