The latest arrest was made by Baidyanathpur Police, who took Shunyachandra Das into custody for allegedly sheltering sharpshooters involved in the killing.
According to sources, Shunyachandra Das had provided refuge to the hired shooters at his residence in Alakapuri, Berhampur. His role came to light during the ongoing investigation, which has already led to the arrest of several high-profile individuals, including former Berhampur MLA Bikram Panda, ex-mayor Siba Shankar Das, and other BJD leaders.
Pitabash Panda was shot dead outside his residence on October 6, in a murder that has rocked southern Odisha and triggered political controversy.
