Kandhamal, Mar 21: Vigilance sleuths arrested the Block Education Officer (BEO) of Daringbadi on charges of misappropriation of Rs 20 lakh from the teachers pension system under Daringbadi block in Kandhamal district on Wednesday.
The BEO has been identified as Rasananda Kar. It was alleged that he had transferred the money under the National Pension System of teachers into his own account and invested the money in stock market.
"We conducted an investigation after we got a tip about the alleged misappropriate of the pension money of the teachers by BEO Daringbadi, Rasananda Kar. We have arrested him and will enquire to get more details," said Vigilance inspector Kumudini Sahu.
