Bargarh, Aug 11: A minor girl, who sustained severe burn injuries after allegedly setting herself ablaze near a football field at Firingmal village under Gaisilet police station limits, has succumbed to her injuries.
According to reports, the girl, currently staying at her maternal uncle’s house, poured petrol on herself and set herself ablaze. She was immediately rescued and rushed to the district headquarters hospital in critical condition.
Later, the victim was shifted to Burla, where she died while undergoing treatment.
While the reason behind the suspected suicide attempt remains unknown, police have launched an investigation to determine whether it was a case of self-harm or if foul play was involved.
