Development agency appointed; work order to be issued soon.

BDA assures all planned facilities will be implemented without disruption.

Bhubaneswar, Sep 1: In a major step toward streamlining commercial operations at the newly developed Baramunda Inter-State Bus Terminal (ISBT) in Bhubaneswar, the Bhubaneswar Development Authority (BDA) has announced that 120 shops will be allotted to vendors through a lottery system within the next 10 days.

This move comes after prolonged uncertainty and internal disputes among shopkeepers regarding allocation. The lottery-based allotment has now resolved those concerns, ensuring transparency and fairness. Priority will be given to vendors who previously operated at the old bus stand.

The selection process has already been completed, and the BDA has confirmed that the commercial space at the terminal spans nearly 1 lakh square metres. To develop this space, an agency has been appointed at a rate of ₹52 per square metre, and a work order will be issued shortly.

The agency will be responsible for upgrading the infrastructure, including repairing damaged doors and modifying existing structures. Any structural issues identified during the development will be addressed by the agency itself.

BDA Vice Chairman Dr. N. Tirumala Naik stated that the terminal was designed to offer comprehensive facilities to passengers and vendors alike. All promised amenities will be implemented, and no inconvenience will be caused to stakeholders.

The Baramunda ISBT (Inter-State Bus Terminal) is poised to become one of the largest and most modern bus terminals in Odisha, with integrated commercial zones, passenger amenities, and transport connectivity.
