Baramba Police Dismantle Cattle Trafficking Racket in Tigiria, Arrests Kingpin

Baramba, Apr 19: In a decisive step against illegal cattle trafficking, Baramba Police arrested Tayab Khan, alias “Chhota Kalia” (33), the leader of a notorious syndicate operating in the Tigiria-Baramana jungle.
His capture marks a significant victory in dismantling the criminal network responsible for smuggling cattle and trading beef across various regions.
According to Athagarh Sub-Divisional Police Officer Bishwajit Mohanty, Chhota Kalia was apprehended near Gopapur. Kalia, a resident of Tigiria Pankal village, has been implicated in multiple cases of cattle smuggling spanning Tigiria, Baramana, Baramba, and Kanpur areas. Police confirm his direct involvement in firing incidents reported in Baideshwar.
Baramba Police disclosed that Kalia is one of the four key figures in the cattle trafficking racket. Multiple cases, including three at Baramba Police Station and over 12 across different stations, have been registered against him. He was also wanted in Dhenkanal, where an arrest warrant had been issued.
This arrest shines a spotlight on the rampant illegal cattle trade, and authorities hope it will lead to further dismantling of the syndicate’s operations. The crackdown emphasises law enforcement’s commitment to curbing organized crime and ensuring the safety of local communities.
