Cuttack, Dec 1: Online ticket sales for the India–South Africa T20 International at Barabati Stadium saw a massive rush on Monday, with 2,000 tickets selling out in just 30 minutes, leaving thousands of fans disappointed. The Odisha Cricket Association (OCA) confirmed that the first batch of online tickets was snapped up almost instantly as soon as the booking window opened.
The December 9 match has generated high demand, with fans flooding authorised digital platforms in hopes of securing seats.
The OCA earlier announced that online ticket sales will officially begin on December 1, followed by offline distribution. Tickets for OCA-affiliated clubs and partner organisations will be issued on December 3 and 4, while sales for the general public will be held at six counters across Cuttack on December 5 and 6. Buyers will be required to present valid ID proof for verification.
To manage the expected rush, OCA has strengthened crowd-control arrangements and streamlined both online and offline ticketing systems. A tiered pricing structure has also been released:
Rs 800 – Rs 1,000 for general stands
Rs 1,500 – Rs 2,000 for premium stands
Rs 2,500 – Rs 3,000 for corporate or upper-tier seating
Officials said the pricing aims to keep the match accessible while offering premium facilities for higher categories.
Preparations for the high-profile fixture are in full swing. A seven-member technical team from IIT Bhubaneswar inspected Barabati Stadium on November 21, reviewing structural stability, spectator safety, and load-bearing capacity ahead of the international match.
