Puri, Aug 18: The Banabhoji Besha of Lord Jagannath will be celebrated at Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri today, marking a key ritual in the post-Janmashtami observances.
Following the initiation of Shreekrishna Janmaniti from Janmashtami, the temple will now witness a series of ceremonial adornments of the deities.
On the occasion of Bhadra Krishna Dashami, devotees will observe the Banabhoji Besha along with Kolibika Niti, Bakasura Vadha, and Arghasura Vadha, rituals symbolizing the slaying of demons by Lord Krishna.
After the Midday Aarti, the idols of Lord Rama and Krishna will be presented with agnyamala by the Pujapanda Servitors. The idols will then be placed in a 'vimana'and ceremonially seated on a wooden throne near the Bada Chhata Matha, adjacent to the Singhadwara.
In the Banabhoji Besha, Lord Jagannath and his siblings will be adorned with nearly 18 types of golden ornaments, transforming the temple into a spectacle of divine elegance and devotion.
