Bhubaneswar, Jan 22: Police in Balipatna arrested the man, who fled after killing his nephew. The incident which occurred following a heated argument took place at Bhapur Natha Sahi under Balipatana police station limits.


The accused, identified as Mithun Nath, was arrested from Balipatna area. Mithun is accused of killing his 19-year-old nephew, Lipun Nath, a resident of Nathasahi village.


According to police sources, Mithun and Lipun had an argument over some issue. However, the dispute reportedly escalated. It took an ugly turn when Mithun allegedly attacked his nephew, Lipun Nath, with a sharp weapon, leading to his death on the spot.


Local residents alerted the police soon after the incident.


Acting swiftly, Balipatna police reached the spot and apprehended the accused.


Preliminary investigation suggests that the murder was the result of a sudden outburst during a verbal altercation rather than a premeditated act.

The body of the deceased was sent for post-mortem examination, while police launched a manhunt for the accused, who fled the spot soon after the incident.
