Balasore, Mar 10: A truck containing five tonnes of beef was seized by the Singla police on Baliapal road near Putura chowk in Balasore district.

According to reports, the truck was coming from Bhadrak and it was heading to West Bengal. After finding out about the truck, about 60 Bajrang Dal activists tried to block the road near Gandhi Chowk under Basta police station limits on National Highway 60 (NH 60).

The speedy truck tried to escape the blocking and changed its route towards Baliapal. The driver, however, couldn’t control the truck, which hit a roadside tree near Putura chowk.

Singla Police arrived at the spot after getting the information and seized the truck, which was later brought to the Singla police station. The driver and the helper of the truck fled from the scene leaving the truck behind.

Container Of Mutton Seized On Suspicion Of Containing Beef

A container of mutton was seized on suspicion of containing beef near Begunia petrol pump in Balasore district late Sunday night. Khantapada police seized the container suspecting the container contains beef.

As per the report, the container came from Kolkata and it was heading to Bengaluru. Khantapada police station in-charge Prafulla Kumar Mallick rushed to the spot and seized the vehicle and detained its driver, identified as Nagendran.

The police’s suspicion raised after they looked at the bill, which showed the container carrying 7,854 kg of boneless mutton. The value of the meat is said to be Rs 27 lakh.

More details are awaited in this connection as investigation is underway.
