Balasore, Apr 4: The Balasore police managed to rescue the newborn baby male child who was stolen from the District Headquarters Hospital, Balasore here yesterday.

The police recovered the baby from the Durgadevi area under the Remuna police station limits early this morning. The police have detained a woman in this connection. 

Notably, a seven-day-old boy, the son of Susanta Barik from Baliapal area, was allegedly stolen from the maternity ward of the DHH when the infant was undergoing treatment after being diagnosed with jaundice.

The family members complained that the lack of security arrangements in the hospital has led to the incident. They filed a complaint at the DHH police outpost in this regard. 

Based on the complaint, police started an investigation.
