Balasore, Sep 16: Udaypur beach, located near the Odisha–West Bengal border in Bhograi block of Balasore district, has come under public scrutiny following reports of rampant public indecency, open alcohol consumption, and alleged obscenity during daytime hours.
The beach, once known for its serene beauty and cultural significance, is now being compared to foreign party destinations due to the behaviour of certain tourists.
According to local sources, groups of intoxicated tourists — primarily from neighbouring West Bengal — have been gathering at the beach, engaging in drinking, meat consumption, and vulgar dancing in full public view.

✨What has shocked many is the proximity of these activities to the Udaypur Marine Police Station, located just 200 meters from the site, yet no effective action has reportedly been taken to curb the situation.
The presence of open bars and unregulated gatherings has sparked outrage among residents, who fear that the cultural identity of Bhograi, known for its rich artistic heritage, is being tarnished. Locals have expressed concern over the lack of enforcement and the growing commercialization of the beach, which they say is turning into a hub of unsocial behaviour.
Recent reports also suggest that makeshift huts and temporary
structures have been used to facilitate illegal activities, prompting the
district administration to launch eviction drives in July. Bulldozers were
deployed to raze these structures, and investigations were initiated following
complaints from residents.
