Balasore: Nilagiri Deputy Collector Parikhita Jena Under Odisha Vigilance Scanner

Balasore, Aug 14: After several astounding raids in past few weeks, Odisha Vigilance continues their act in the state Wednesday as a former Block Development Officer (BDO), who is currently working as Nilagiri Deputy Collector, is now under its scanner.
Parikhit Jena, Ex-BDO, Suliapada Block in Mayurbhanj district, came under Odisha Vigilance scanner with the raids are being conducted "on the allegation of misappropriation of Government money without executing different developmental works" in the block.
"On the allegation of misappropriation of Government money to the tune of Rs 1,01,03,215/- only of OMBADC funds without executing different developmental works in the Suliapada Block area during the financial years 2021-22 and 2022-23 by Sri Parikhita Jena, OAS(JB), Ex-BDO, Suliapada Block, Dist- Mayurbhanj, searches are being conducted by Odisha Vigilance to verify the allegation and collect evidence in this connection," informed Odisha Vigilance in a statement.
Reportedly, six teams of Odisha Vigilance comprising 2 Additional SPs, 4 DSPs, 6 Inspectors, 7 ASIs, and other supporting staff are conducting verification.
The raids are underway at the properties of Jena, including his rented house in Baligohiri. Jena is currently working as the Deputy Collector of Nilagiri in Balasore.

In another Vigilance act, Panchanana Kanhar, Ex-Head Master-cum-VEC Secretary, Talmalkha Project Primary School, A/p-I/c Head Master Siletpada UGME School, Boudh, who was charge sheeted by Odisha Vigilance for misappropriation of govt. money, was convicted to four years prison and sent to jail.
Earlier Tuesday, the state Vigilance had arrested Tara Prasad Mishra, Ex-Chief Engineer, R&B, in DA case and remanded to jail. The Vigilance unearthed Mishra's assets including 11 flats -- 1 in Ranchi, a 4 storey building in Bhubaneswar, 7 plots, deposits worth Rs 2.7 Crore, 2.5kg of gold, Rs 6 Lakh cash and a Mecedes Benz car. Further investigation is underway.
