Nimapada, Jul 19: In a heart-wrenching incident, a 15-year-old minor girl from Balanga, under Nimapada block in Odisha's Puri district, was allegedly set on fire by a group of youths.
Reports indicate that over 70% of her body has been severely
burned. The critically injured girl has been shifted to the burn unit at AIIMS Bhubaneswar
for advanced medical care.
Taking swift cognizance of the matter, the Odisha government
has swung into action. Puri Superintendent of Police (SP) Pinak Mishra reached
the incident site for an on-ground assessment and supervised early
investigations.
Five suspects have been detained and are currently being
interrogated as police carry out forensic scrutiny at the location.
Eyewitnesses have said that the unfortunate incident took place around 8:30 am near Terahala on the Balanga to Haripur road.

Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida, condemning the brutality of the incident, vowed strict action. She stated that the accused will not be spared and stringent measures will be taken to ensure justice for the victim.
Police officials are yet to confirm the motive behind the crime. However, sources say the investigation is being expedited with help from forensic experts and local witnesses.
