Puri, July 5: The sacred Grand Road of Puri witnessed a momentous spiritual convergence as the three majestic chariots of the Holy Trinity-- Lord Balabhadra, Devi Subhadra, and Lord Jagannath-- arrived in front of the Singhadwara (Lion’s Gate) of the Shree Jagannath Temple in Puri on Saturday evening, marking the culmination of the Bahuda Yatra.

The procession began with the arrival of Taladhwaja, the chariot of Lord Balabhadra, followed by Darpadalana, the chariot of Devi Subhadra. Finally, the grand Nandighosha chariot carrying Lord Jagannath reached its destination, completing the Holy Trinity’s return journey from Gundicha Temple.

With all three chariots now stationed at Singhadwara, devotees are preparing for the Suna Besha ritual on Sunday, July 6, when the deities will be adorned with dazzling gold ornaments atop their chariots. This rare public darshan draws lakhs of pilgrims and is considered one of the most auspicious moments of the Rath Yatra.

Following Suna Besha, the Adhara Pana ritual will be performed on Monday, where the deities are offered a sweet herbal drink to break their Ekadashi fast. The festival concludes with Niladri Bije on Tuesday, when the deities ceremonially re-enter the sanctum sanctorum of the Shree Jagannath Temple.

The final ritual includes a sacred exchange of Sanskrit chants between the temple priests of Lord Jagannath and Goddess Lakshmi before the Lord is ceremoniously welcomed back into the Srimandir.

The city of Puri remains engulfed in devotional fervour, with chants of “Jai Jagannath” echoing through the air,  as devotees await the grand Suna Besha darshan, a symbolic culmination of Lord Jagannath’s return to his eternal abode.
