Ayushman Bharat, Gopabandhu Health Schemes To Be Implemented In Odisha From April 1

Bhubaneswar, Mar 13: The Ayushman Bharat – Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (PMJAY), and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana will be implemented in Odisha from April 1.

Along with this, the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana will also be launched on the same day. This decision was made during a meeting chaired by Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan, Wednesday.

To mark the inauguration of these schemes, special programmes will be conducted at all the 1,438 primary health centres across the state. A widespread awareness campaign will also be initiated to promote and expand these schemes.

Notably, the Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY was formalised to be implemented in Odisha through an agreement signed between the state government and the National Health Authority, January 13, in New Delhi.

Health Scheme To Benefit Over 3 Crore People

According to the meeting, over 1.03 crore families in Odisha will benefit from both the Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana. Individually, over 3.46 crore people will benefit.

Both schemes will operate jointly in Odisha under co-branding, and every beneficiary will receive a co-branded card. Additionally, the beneficiaries of the Vaya Vandana Yojana will receive a separate, independent card.

While over 67.80 lakh families are expected to benefit under the Ayushman Bharat – PMJAY, more than 35.84 lakh families will benefit under the Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana.

Senior citizens aged 70 years and above will be covered under the Ayushman Vaya Vandana Yojana. According to information, there are 23,12,979 senior citizens above the age of 70, out of which about 17 lakh individuals are already covered under the Ayushman Bharat PMJAY and Gopabandhu Jan Arogya Yojana, leaving an additional 6 lakh beneficiaries to be added to the new scheme.

Altogether, a total of 3.52 crore people in the state will benefit from these initiatives. Each male beneficiary will receive healthcare facilities up to Rs 5 lakhs, while each female beneficiary will receive up to Rs 10 lakhs for treatment.

For families with senior citizens above 70 years, the maximum healthcare expense per family will be capped at Rs 15 lakhs. Beneficiaries can avail of these facilities in over 29,000 government and registered private hospitals nationwide.

Who attended the meeting?

The meeting, which was chaired by CM Majhi at Lok Seva Bhawan in Bhubaneswar, was attended by the Health and Family Welfare Minister Dr Mukesh Mahaling, Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of the Information and Public Relations Department Sanjay Kumar Singh, Principal Secretary of IT Department Vishal Dev, Principal Secretary of the Health Department Ashwathi S, and other senior officials from the Health Department.
