Key Points

  • Ayushman Bharat data to be available in Odia language.
  • Unified Health Interface (UHI) to integrate doctors, pharmacies, and patient records.
  • Fake claims worth Rs 630 crore already rejected under Ayushman Bharat.
  • Odisha covers 99 lakh families, benefitting 83 percent households.

Bhubaneswar, Jan 19: In a move to make healthcare more inclusive and accessible, the government has announced that all Ayushman Bharat data will soon be available in the Odia language, ensuring wider reach and better understanding among local communities.

This announcement was made at the National Chintan Shivir on Ayushman Bharat and Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission in Bhubaneswar, where Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling stressed that regional language integration will help beneficiaries better understand and utilize the scheme.

Unified Health Interface

The government is preparing to roll out a Unified Health Interface (UHI), modeled on UPI, to bring doctors, pharmacies, hospitals, and patient records onto a single digital platform. This will allow citizens to access their medical history, treatment details, and Ayushman Bharat benefits with one click, while ensuring privacy and security of health data.

Tackling Fraud and Transparency

Through the National Anti-Fraud Unit, fake claims worth ₹630 crore have already been rejected under Ayushman Bharat. With UHI, authorities aim to further strengthen transparency and accountability. Beneficiaries will also be able to check the ₹5 lakh assistance amount in real time.

Faster Solutions and Digital Access

Health Minister Mahaling assured that existing issues in the scheme will be resolved within three days. Beneficiaries who have not yet received their cards will soon be able to track applications digitally. To support this, three MoUs have been signed with Bhashini and the Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru, to enhance language integration and digital outreach.

Expanding Scope of Ayushman Bharat

The government is considering the inclusion of AYUSH, homeopathy, and Ayurveda services under Ayushman Bharat. Odisha has already achieved significant coverage, with 99 lakh families enrolled, benefitting nearly 83 percent of households. Over 9,500 hospitals are empanelled, including 8,530 government and 979 private institutions.

The Bhubaneswar conclave, attended by representatives from 28 states and union territories, highlighted India’s push towards a digitally empowered healthcare ecosystem, promising faster, safer, and more accessible medical services for millions.
