Adding to the excitement, the Minister revealed that seaplane services will commence in October 2025, with Chilika Lake identified as one of the prime destinations. Other states like Kerala, Andhra Pradesh, and the Andaman & Nicobar Islands will also be part of this initiative, aimed at enhancing regional connectivity and tourism.

Odisha Transport Minister Bibhuti Bhushan Jena also shared plans for a new “HeliTaxi” scheme, enabling affordable helicopter travel for the public. The service will connect Bhubaneswar to key tourist spots like Puri, Konark, Chilika, Tara Tarini, and Gopalpur. He further urged the Centre to resume flight operations at Jharsuguda and Rourkela, which were suspended without prior notice.

These initiatives are expected to significantly boost tourism, improve connectivity, and create new economic opportunities across Odisha.
