Bhubaneswar, Feb 25: Odisha Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister Krushna Chandra Patra has said that the state government has ordered the authorities to conduct door-to-door verification for Ration Cards.
According to Patra, the verification team will carry the list of Ration Card holders while conducting the verification.
There are complaints that people filing income tax are finding their names out of the Ration Card list. Refuting such reports, the Food Supplies Minister said that it isn’t the case.
“Even if someone is filing income tax, his or her name won’t be cut from the Ration Card list. Verification team will physically verify the facts and after finding out about their income, only then it would be decided whether to continue the card or not,” explained Patra.
Currently, authorities are instructed not to cut anyone’s name from the list or discontinue the facilities. “If someone is poor, he or she will remain in the list. And if someone is found to have acquired the card with false data, that person will no longer be able to use the card.,” asserted the Odisha Minister.
He also urged the people to inform the department if someone’s name has been cut from the list. Their names will be added to the list after investigation.
“People from rural area having less than Rs 10,000 income and people from urban area having less than Rs 15,000 income will be eligible for Ration Cards,” stated the Food Supplies & Consumer Welfare Minister.
