Devotees reenacted traditional rituals with fervor in foreign soil.
Sydney, July 5: the Odia community in Australia experienced a spiritual milestone as ORIOZ (The Association of Odias in Australia) celebrated its first-ever Bahuda Yatra of Lord Jagannath and his siblings at Cherrybrook Cultural Centre, echoing the divine rituals of Puri on foreign soil.
The event commemorated the sacred return of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra from the Mausima Temple to Their original abode.
The day unfolded with devotional vibrancy—soulful kirtans, elegant Odissi performances, and a heartfelt reenactment of Maa Lakshmi’s ‘lila’. Children gleefully participated by pulling miniature chariots, bringing the essence of Rath Yatra to life for the diaspora.

✨In a significant spiritual move, ORIOZ inaugurated the Shree Jagannath Consciousness Movement, a campaign to spread Mahaprabhu’s teachings and divine love across Australia. The association envisions an annual Bahuda Yatra tradition, with hopes of establishing a permanent Jagannath Mandir in Sydney in the near future.
This homegrown celebration marks a bridge between Odisha's sacred culture and Australia’s multicultural fabric, fostering a deeper connection to tradition for future generations.
