Balasore, Jul 11: In a daring late-night heist, unidentified miscreants uprooted and dragged away an ATM machine in Tudigadia market under Khaira police limits in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday night.
According to official sources, the incident occurred around 2 AM when over five assailants arrived in a black SUV and tied the India1 ATM to their vehicle before hauling it away.
The machine was later abandoned in the middle of the road a short distance away, with the culprits fleeing the scene. While the exact amount of cash looted remains unclear, CCTV footage captured the dramatic act of the ATM being dragged through the market.

Meanwhile, Khaira Police have launched an investigation, reviewing CCTV footage to identify the culprits and track the vehicle used in the crime. “Efforts are underway to ascertain the total amount stolen and to apprehend the gang behind the incident,” a Police officer said.
The daring ATM heist has once again highlighted vulnerabilities in rural banking infrastructure and the urgent need for enhanced vigilance in crime-prone zones.
