Bhubaneswar, April 8: Odisha Vigilance has unearthed disproportionate assets worth crores in simultaneous house searches conducted on Rajesh Chandra Mohanty, Additional Chief Engineer, Central Irrigation Circle, Bhubaneswar, who is currently posted as Additional Chief Engineer, Dam Safety, Odisha.

The raids revealed a staggering list of assets including a palatial multi-storeyed building in Bhubaneswar, a farmhouse with a double-storeyed building covering 4,000 sq ft on 1.71 acres, eight plots, deposits of over ₹1.70 crore, cash worth ₹6.23 lakh, 350 grams of gold, and two four-wheelers.

The searches were carried out at multiple locations in Cuttack and Bhubaneswar by a team comprising 1 Additional SP, 11 DSPs, 9 Inspectors, 8 ASIs, and supporting staff, under search warrants issued by the Special Judge, Vigilance, Cuttack.

This action is part of Vigilance’s intensified crackdown on corruption. Since January 2023 to December 2025, Vigilance registered 683 corruption cases, with 337 convictions. Assets of six corrupt officials have already been confiscated and repurposed for public use, including a government horticulture nursery, a public homeopathy dispensary, three Anganwadi centres, a working women’s hostel, and a sub-post office.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, addressing the Assembly, had highlighted that Vigilance has seized ₹40.84 crore from 22 government officials and employees, with ₹32.50 lakh deposited into the state treasury. He reiterated the government’s commitment to ensuring that confiscated assets benefit the public directly.

The latest raid against Mohanty underscores Vigilance’s aggressive stance against corruption and its resolve to bring transparency and accountability in governance.
