Ganjam, Sep 14: A tragic incident unfolded during the ongoing Home Guard recruitment interview in Chhatrapur, Ganjam district, when an aspirant collapsed during the physical test and later passed away while undergoing treatment.
The recruitment drive, conducted under the Ganjam Police jurisdiction, included a mandatory running test for candidates vying for the Home Guard post.
During the test, Sivaram Pradhan, a resident of Tulasi Palli under Tarasingh police station limits, reportedly fell ill while running and collapsed on the ground.

Officials immediately rushed him to Chhatrapur Medical Centre for emergency care. However, due to the severity of his condition, he was referred to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur. Despite medical efforts, Sivaram succumbed while under treatment.
Following the incident, the recruitment interview scheduled
for the afternoon session was suspended. Candidates who had arrived for the
interview were asked to return home, and authorities stated that further
instructions regarding the resumption of the interview process would be issued
soon.
