Bhubaneswar, Sept 20: Concerned over the ghastly Bharatpur police station incident, Army Commander Lieutenant General PS Shekhawat Friday sought the suo motu intervention of the Chief Justice of the Orissa High Court and prompt action against culprits.
In a letter, Shekhawat mentioned that police at the Bharatpur police station in Bhubaneswar beat up an army officer who had gone to the police station to seek security. An Army Major and his fiancee were harassed at the police station. They even locked them up. Ill-treatment and harassment in police stations are condemnable.
"I am sanguine that under your lordship's guidance, the matter will be impartially investigated, and prompt appropriate action will be taken against those responsible," wrote Lt. Gen. Sekhawat.
