Bhubaneswar, Dec 20: Odisha Health Minister Mukesh Mahaling inaugurated the “Argus Odisha Health Connect Season-4”, a day-long healthcare conclave, in Bhubaneswar on Saturday. Organised by the Argus News, the event focused on various aspects of healthcare services in the State.

Odisha Government’s ambitious initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare
delivery and ensuring universal access across the state.
Highlighting the State Government’s commitment to building a robust medical infrastructure, Mahaling said that 5,195 doctors have been recruited in the past 15 months to fill critical vacancies. Plans are underway to appoint community healthcare officers in all gram panchayats, ensuring primary health services reach even the remotest areas.
The Minister further revealed that every panchayat will soon have an Ayushman Aarogya Mandir, supported by over 5,000 yoga instructors, to promote preventive healthcare and wellness. District Headquarters Hospitals will be equipped with advanced diagnostic facilities including CT scan and MRI machines. Emphasising maternal and child health, he said reducing mortality rates remains a key priority in building a healthier society.

Odisha has secured the second position nationally under the Ayushman Bharat and the Gopabandhu Jana Arogya Yojana (GJAY), reflecting its progress in healthcare accessibility. Mahaling also revealed the expansion of ambulance services in the coming financial year, with the emergency number 109 being extended to include dignified handling of deceased people, ensuring respectful transportation and last rites.
Looking ahead, the Minister stressed the role of technology in healthcare, stating that AI-based modular labs will be established in all districts to enhance diagnostic and treatment capabilities. “Our vision is to combine infrastructure, manpower, and technology to deliver inclusive and compassionate healthcare for every citizen of Odisha,” he said.
The event brought together policymakers, medical professionals, and stakeholders for a comprehensive dialogue on strengthening healthcare systems in the state.
