National Security Advisor Ajit Doval stated that India-China relations have seen an upward trend and border areas have remained peaceful since the Modi-Xi meeting in Kazan. His remarks came during the 24th Special Representatives dialogue with Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi.

In a major boost to Odisha’s industrial landscape, JSW Steel and South Korea’s POSCO Group have signed a Heads of Agreement to jointly explore the establishment of a 6 million tonnes per annum integrated steel plant in the state.

 

 

5.     Zelensky Seeks Direct Talks With Putin

 

Ukrainian President Zelensky has said that Russia proposed a bilateral meeting with Ukraine, followed by a trilateral meeting. After his meeting with US President Donald Trump at the White House, Zelensky said that he is ready for "any format" of a meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin.

7.     India’s Asia Cup Squad

 

BCCI announced India’s 15-member squad for the Asia Cup 2025 which will be played in the T20 format from Sep 9 to 28 in the UAE. Surya Kumar Yadav will lead the team while Subhman Gill has been chosen as his deputy.

In a major breakthrough under the ongoing anti-crime initiative Operation Garuda, Odisha Police seized over 7 quintals and 72 kilograms of ganja from a pickup vehicle in Subarnapur district.

Several districts in Odisha may experience rainfall till August 23 due to a low-pressure system over the Bay of Bengal. IMD has issued a yellow warning statewide and a red alert for Koraput, Malkangiri, and Nabarangpur districts.
