Bhubaneswar, Aug 3: Odia Language, Literature & Culture, Higher Education and Sports & Youth Services Minister of Odisha, Suryabanshi Suraj and State's Skill Development & Technical Education and Industries Minister, Sampad Chandra Swain inaugurated a day-long conclave- ‘Argus Education Next Season-3' in Bhubaneswar on Saturday.

The conclave is organised by the Argus News, a leading TV channel of Odisha focusing on broadcast and digital news publication.

The theme of the conclave is "Innovation in Education for a Better Tomorrow".

Argus News Editor-In-Chief Sanjaya Jena delivered the welcome address at the event. "Education and skill development are indeed important to establish a strong foundation for a thriving future. I hope this conclave will certainly deliberate on various aspects in education and skill ecosystems," Jena said.

Speaking on the occasion Argus News CEO Prakash Sahu said, "Education system has undergone significant transformation over the years. Being a media house, it is our primary responsibility to disseminate the right thing to the viewers through the day-long session."

On his part, Minister Sampad Swain said, "With the blessings of Lord Jagannath, now there is a double-engine government in Odisha. The State is going to celebrate the 100th year of its formation in 2036 and our government is committed to make Odisha a leading State in the country in skill development & technical education sector."

"We will establish Language Labs in every engineering college across the State. We will establish skill development centres in every district for skill mapping of youths. Koushal Bhawan will also be set up in every district and 10 such facilities will be established in the first phase," he added.

Addressing the gathering, Minister Suryabanshi Suraj appreciated Argus News for organising the education conclave for the third time. "A conclave on the education sector shows the social responsibility of the Argus News," he said.

"The education system introduced in the country by Macaulay was to produce clerks only. Now, National Education Policy-2020 aims to offer skill-oriented education. When the students are confident in their mother tongue, their skills and talent will emerge without any restrictions. The NEP gives due respect and credit to every language in the country," he added.

Hundreds of students, teachers, administrators and intellectuals participated in the event.
