Angul, Jun 1: An Illicit relationship with the wife of another person has turned tragic with the death of the lover in a village in Angul district.

The shocking incident occurred in Mahusunihata village under the Kaniha police station in the district last night. The deceased has been identified as Babaji Naik.

According to the information, Babaji Naik had been shunned by two wives in succession. He was in an extramarital affair with Rinki Naik, the wife of Bibhuri Naik of Kakudia village. Once, he had brought her to his house and enjoyed her companionship for many days.

But Rinki returned to her husband's house after a complaint was filed with the Kaniha police against the illicit relationship between her and Babaji.

After a few months, Babaji again cajoled Rinki, brought her to his house, and got united. Irate over their intimacy, Rinki's husband, Bibhuti Naik, and his friend, Bhola, went to Babaji's house and attacked him with a sharp weapon when he was asleep last night.

Soon after, Babaji was rushed to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Police have seized the body and continued their investigation.
