Ama Bus Workers' Sit On Protest, Commuters Hit

Bhubaneswar, May 13: Chaotic scenes erupted across the state capital on Tuesday morning as bus passengers found themselves stranded for hours, as the workers of Ama Bus service sat on a protest over safety concerns.
Drivers and conductors staged demonstrations, demanding better security measures after alleged attacks by commuters.
According to reports, the protest was triggered following the assault of a driver near Master Canteen Square.
Staff members claim that such attacks have occurred multiple times, but authorities have not taken action. Fumed over the incident, the workers suspended the services.
Protesters insist that services will not resume until the government ensures their safety and arrests those responsible.
The disruption has caused major inconvenience, especially for office-goers, students, and travelers. CRUT, the managing body of Ama Bus, has yet to issue an official statement regarding the situation.
