AIIMS Bhubaneswar Signs MoU To Propel Healthcare Innovation In Odisha

Bhubaneswar, Aug 21: In a major stride toward transforming Odisha into a national hub for healthcare innovation, AIIMS Bhubaneswar on Thursday signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with KIIT-Technology Business Incubator (KIIT-TBI) and Bhubaneswar City Knowledge Innovation Cluster (BCKIC) Foundation.
The collaboration aims to build a robust ecosystem for developing, validating, and deploying cutting-edge healthcare technologies. It will also accelerate the growth of healthcare startups and foster clinical entrepreneurship across the state. The MoU was signed in the presence of Prof. (Dr.) Ashutosh Biswas, Executive Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, and Dr. Mrutyunjay Suar, CEO of KIIT-TBI and Chairman of BCKIC Foundation.
“This partnership will position AIIMS Bhubaneswar as a national translational innovation hub,” said Dr. Biswas. “It will drive medical product development, technology advancement, and effective IP management while nurturing clinical entrepreneurship.”

✨The joint initiative will focus on establishing Centres of Excellence (CoEs) in healthcare, diagnostics, and digital health. These CoEs will be equipped with high-end diagnostic tools, clinical validation pathways, and advanced research facilities. The partnership will also support innovation programs, bootcamps, regulatory workshops, and startup–investor roundtables.
Real-world testing of telehealth platforms, AI-based diagnostic tools, and remote monitoring devices will be conducted under the Healthcare Technology Validation initiative. Additionally, the MoU promotes skill development, technology transfer, and incubation of healthcare startups.
The ceremony was attended by key dignitaries including Dr. Namrata Misra, CEO of BCKIC and Advisor to KIIT-TBI; Dr. Satyajeet Misra, Dean (Research), AIIMS Bhubaneswar; Dr. Rituparna Maiti, Secretary of the MoU Committee; Dr. Jayalaxmi Dash, Manager (Tech-Innovation), KIIT-TBI; and Mr. Arpan Ghosh, Manager, BCKIC.
This strategic alliance is expected to catalyze Odisha’s
emergence as a leader in digital health and medical technology, contributing
significantly to India’s healthcare innovation landscape.
