Bhubaneswar, Jan 23: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS), Bhubaneswar has been ranked No. 1 nationally in the category of Linking Health Records under the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), marking a major milestone in India’s digital health transformation, officials said on Friday.

The award was presented during the Chintan Shivir held in Bhubaneswar on January 19–20, organised by the National Health Authority (NHA) under the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. The recognition was received by AIIMS Bhubaneswar Executive Director Prof. Ashutosh Biswas and IT Committee Chairman Dr. Manoj Kumar Mohanty from Odisha Chief Secretary Anu Garg.

Prof. Biswas said the recognition highlighted AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s leadership and commitment to advancing citizen-centric healthcare delivery. Under ABDM, the institute has achieved 42 lakh health record linkages and generated 19 lakh ABHA tokens. It has also successfully implemented a Scan & Pay facility to streamline billing, reduce patient queues, and enhance hospital efficiency. These initiatives, he added, have improved patient convenience, ensured paperless workflows, and strengthened continuity of care.

Health Record Linking under ABDM involves securely connecting a patient’s digital medical records — including OPD visits, laboratory reports, prescriptions, and discharge summaries — to their ABHA ID, with patient consent. This enables individuals to access and share their health records anytime, supports interoperability across healthcare institutions, and ensures continuity of care nationwide.

Officials noted that AIIMS Bhubaneswar’s achievement reflects the broader vision of ABDM to build a robust, interoperable, and inclusive digital health ecosystem, aligning with India’s goal of seamless healthcare delivery.
