Bhubaneswar, Sep 22: The All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) Bhubaneswar has commemorated its 13th Annual Day with a vibrant celebration that showcased its remarkable strides in healthcare, digital transformation, and academic leadership, officials said on Monday.

The event was held in the presence of esteemed dignitaries and marked a year of record-breaking achievements and future-forward initiatives.

The ceremony was graced by Dr. Ashok Kumar Mahapatra, the founding Director of AIIMS Bhubaneswar, who served as Chief Guest. In his keynote address, Dr. Mahapatra praised the institution’s unwavering commitment to compassionate care and cutting-edge innovation, calling it a beacon of hope for eastern India’s healthcare landscape.

Executive Director Dr. Ashutosh Biswas highlighted the institute’s holistic approach to patient care and its dedication to medical excellence. “Our team has performed complex, life-saving procedures while maintaining a strong focus on empathy and inclusivity,” he said. He also announced upcoming facilities including liver transplantation and a skin bank to further enhance public health services.

This year, AIIMS Bhubaneswar recorded over 11 lakh outpatient consultations and admitted more than 45,000 in-patients. The institute successfully linked over 26 lakh ABHA digital health records and registered 17,000 blood donors. These milestones reflect its growing role in national healthcare infrastructure.

AIIMS Bhubaneswar climbed to 14th position in the NIRF 2025 rankings, a significant leap from 31st in 2021, and was named the 2nd Best Emerging Medical College by the India Today-MDRA Survey 2025.

The celebration also featured the launch of the annual souvenir “The Insight,” alongside cultural and academic programs honoring students, faculty, and staff. Distinguished guests included Dr. P R Mohapatra, Dr. Satyajit Mishra, Dr. Soubhagya Kumar Jena, Dr. Ashok Kumar Jena, Dr. Sudipta Ranjan Singh, and Lt Col. Abhijit Sarkar.
