AICC Dissolves Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee; Rama Kadam Appointed CLP Leader

The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday dissolved the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, including the State president and other office bearers.

Bhubaneswar, July 21: The All India Congress Committee (AICC) on Sunday dissolved the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, including the State president and other office bearers.

“The Congress President has approved the proposal of the complete dissolution of the Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee, including PCC president and its executive committee,” reads a party release issued by AICC General Secretary  KC Venugopal informed.

The release further said that the current District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents will function as acting presidents till new DCC presidents are appointed.

In a separate release, the AICC informed that three-time Pottangi MLA Rama Chandra Kadam has been appointed as Congress Legislature Party (CLP) leader and debutant Basudevpur MLA Ashok Das as his deputy in the Odisha Assembly.

Rajgangpur MLA CS Raazen Ekka has been appointed as the chief whip, the release said.

The move comes against the backdrop of the party's debacle in the recently held Assembly elections wherein the BJP came to power ending the BJD's 24-year-old stint while Congress secured only 14 seats in the 147-member House.
