Kendrapara, July 30: After remaining out of bounds for tourists for three months, the Bhitarkanika National Park in Odisha's Kendrapara district will reopen for visitors on August 1, officials said on Tuesday.
The National Park was closed for the visitors for the breeding season of the estuarine crocodiles from May 1 to July 31.
The three-month restriction was being imposed to ensure that the estuarine crocodiles were not disturbed during their breeding season by visitors.

✨Once the reptiles get disturbed during nesting, they become more violent and the majority of the crocodile attack incidents occur during the breeding season, sources said.
Notably, the Bhitarkanika Wildlife Sanctuary, home to the country’s second largest mangrove forest, enriched coastal ecology and biodiversity, has turned 50.
The National Park and Wildlife Sanctuary is inundated by the rivers Brahmani, Baitarani, Dhamra, and Pathsala. It hosts many mangrove species, and is the second largest mangrove ecosystem in India.
