Bhubaneswar, Nov 1: Hours after Economic Offences Wing (EOW) reached at RBI Office today to investigate about the long queue of people who are standing to exchange their Rs 2000 notes, a team of Enforcement Directorate (ED) has also reached on the spot to carry out an investigation here.
According to the information, some mediators are giving the notes to the people by promissing them some commision, which they will get after exchanging the notes. EOW and ED are currently investigating the matter.
It is to be noted that the Reserve Bank of India (RBI) had granted an extension for the exchange or deposit of Rs 2000 banknotes, originally taken out of circulation on May 19, 2023. The deadline for the withdrawal process was initially set for September 30, 2023.

✨However, in a recent review, the RBI has decided to extend the period until October 7, 2023.
