Bhubaneswar, Aug 6: In a strategic push toward resilient and inclusive urban transformation, MIO Oka, Country Director of the Asian Development Bank (ADB), called on Usha Padhee, Principal Secretary of the Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Department, Government of Odisha, at Kharavela Bhawan here on Wednesday.

The meeting highlighted key areas of collaboration in urban mobility planning and enhancing livable city initiatives across the state.

Central to the dialogue was the development of a comprehensive Urban Mobility Plan, designed to foster sustainable city growth, streamline public transport, and improve the overall quality of life in urban Odisha.

ADB expressed readiness to extend technical support and assist the state in accessing the Urban Challenge Fund of the Government of India—an important financial mechanism supporting innovative city-level reforms.

Both parties emphasized integrated planning, capacity building, and innovative financing models as pillars to support Odisha’s evolving urban vision. The meeting also underscored the role of strategic partnerships in realizing state-wide infrastructure improvements, particularly in housing, sanitation, and transit systems.

Padhee outlined Odisha’s commitment to improving urban living through collaborative frameworks and futuristic city planning. Oka reaffirmed ADB’s long-standing support for Odisha’s efforts, stating that livable cities are essential to inclusive growth and environmental resilience.
