Ganjam, Apr 27: Police claimed to have cracked the rape and murder case of four-year-old girl, whose body was found at a local construction site, with the arrest of one person. The accused has been identified as Kalia, a distant relative (uncle) of the deceased minor.

According to police, the accused allegedly watched explicit videos before raping the girl and subsequently killed her.

Notably, the four-year-old girl was found dead under mysterious circumstances at an under-construction building in Khallingi village under Sanakhemundi block in Ganjam district in the wee hours of Saturday.

The victim was reportedly staying with her grandmother due to dispute between her parents. She had gone outside to play with her friends. However, she did not return home by evening. Following this, family members launched a frantic search during which they found lifeless body of the child in an under-construction site in a vulnerable condition.

Anguished family members approached the police and lodged an FIR.

Taking note of the report, police along with a scientific team reached the spot and initiated an investigation.
