Bhubaneswar, Oct 11: Renowned Odia music director Abhijit Majumdar has been shifted back to the ICU at AIIMS Bhubaneswar after his health condition worsened again, nearly 17 days after being moved to the general ward.
Hospital sources confirmed that his neuromuscular complications showed no signs of improvement, prompting the transfer.
Majumdar, who has been under treatment since September 4, was earlier moved to the general ward on September 25 following signs of recovery. At the time, AIIMS had issued a bulletin stating that his renal and liver functions had stabilized, and he was off ventilator support for over 48 hours. He was undergoing physiotherapy and receiving supportive care in isolation room number 29.

However, in the last 24 hours, his condition deteriorated, and doctors decided to shift him back to the ICU. Majumdar is battling multiple health issues including kidney disease, osmotic demyelination syndrome, bilateral pneumonia, and dyselectrolytemia. Even during his stay in the general ward, he remained in a comatose state.
Prior to his admission at AIIMS, Majumdar was treated at a private hospital in Cuttack for a week after his sodium levels dropped critically. His worsening condition led to his transfer to AIIMS, where a dedicated medical team continues to monitor and treat him.
Abhijit Majumdar began his career with Sambalpuri music and rose to prominence in the Odia film industry. His debut as a music director came in the 2000 film Kasia Kapila. He went on to deliver several hit songs in films like To Bina Bhala Lagena (2008), Tu Tha Mu Jauchi Rushi (2010), Matric Fail (2012), Love Hela Emiti (2013), Puni Dekha Haba Ara Janamare (2014), Love Station (2016), Sister Sridevi, and Suna Pila Tike Screw Dhila.
