Keonjhar, Jan 8: The BJP Krushak Morcha on Monday alleged massive irregularities in paddy procurement in Keonjhar district and demanded action against government officials who are involved in the anti-farmer act.
Addressing a Press meet here this morning, Morcha president Maheshwar Sahoo said fake plots have been registered and tokens issued to fake farmers for paddy procurement. Keonjhar district Collector and officials are involved in the paddy procurement irregularities, he alleged.
Sahoo alleged that a former Minister and BJD leader once came to the Dhinkikote Mandi and asked officials to cut 5kg of every quintal of paddy being procured from farmers.
"The Keonjhar district administration has violated the paddy procurement norms set by the Central government. Cut of 5 kg from a quintal of paddy is quite illegal," he said.
