Jajpur, Nov 10: The residents of Jajpur have every reason to rejoice, as their revered deity Maa Kotrakhi is returning to her home.
The stolen idol of the goddess will be reinstalled with all rituals, thanks to the efforts of Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The idol reached Jajpur's Badachana from the Bhubaneswar airport yesterday.
The idol was welcomed to the sounds of conches amid a spiritual ambiance. The idol will be taken from Badachana police station to Darpanagada where it will be reinstalled. Maa Kotrakhi is regarded as the Goddess of faith and heritage for the locals.

✨The idol was caught in Delhi while being smuggled to Hong Kong. On a prior request from locals, Union Minister Pradhan requested Finance Minister Nirmal Sitharama to return the priceless idol to Jajpur. The idol is made of Astadhatu (An alloy of eight different metals).

It was stolen from Darpanagada in January 2021. A complaint was lodged in Badachana police station.
After the police failed to locate the idol, the villagers installed another idol of the Goddess after seven months. While handing over the idol, ASI officials were present. The happiness of the villagers knew no bounds, upon seeing their Goddess' return.
