Rourkela, April 21: The 9th edition of Research Scholars’ Week (RSW) 2025 at the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Rourkela concluded successfully, showcasing the remarkable research endeavors of over 90 scholars.


The three-day event, held from April 18 to 20, united scholars from 20 departments, grouped into five clusters: Basic Sciences, Chemical and Biological Sciences, Mechanical Sciences, Circuitry, and Humanities and Management.


The event commenced with an inaugural ceremony featuring a welcome address by Prof. Pradip Chowdhury, Professor in Charge of RSW 2025. He highlighted the importance of RSW in fostering interdisciplinary collaboration and advancing cutting-edge research. Prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao, Director of NIT Rourkela, applauded the dedication and creativity of the scholars, emphasizing the societal benefits of innovative scientific pursuits.

Scholars presented their research through poster sessions on the first two days, followed by oral presentations from shortlisted candidates on the final day. Prof. Snehashish Chakraverty, Dean (Academic), expressed pride in NIT Rourkela’s commitment to nurturing talent and cultivating an environment for research excellence. Prof. Rohan Dhiman, Registrar, noted the potential of these discussions to yield high-impact journals and collaborations.


The event concluded with a valedictory ceremony at BB Auditorium, where the Chief Guest, Prof. VMSR Murthy (Director, IIEST Shibpur), delivered an inspiring keynote address. He encouraged scholars to embrace industry-oriented research for meaningful impact. Winners of the presentations were awarded prizes, while volunteers received certificates recognizing their contributions.


With its emphasis on fostering innovation, interdisciplinary exchange, and academic growth, RSW 2025 reaffirmed NIT Rourkela’s vision of becoming a global hub for science and technology.
