Sonepur, Nov 1: A six-feet-long python was rescued from the premises of Subarnameru Temple here in Odisha’s Subarnapur district on Friday.

As per reports, the priests of the temple heard the screaming of the snake from a water tank in the temple premises this morning and immediately alerted a local snake-rescue team.

On getting the distressed the call, Pramod Dasia, a local snake catcher, rushed to the spot. The snake was found entangled at the water tank, posing a significant challenge due to its size and the precarious location.

With quick thinking and brave attempt, Dasia managed to rescue the snake from the temple premises.

After the rescue, the python was safely handed over to the Forest officials and eventually released into the nearby forest.

Subarnameru Temple is a shrine for the worshipping of Lord Shiva. The shrine is commonly known as  the second Varanasi of India, locals said.
