53 Kg Ganja Seized, 6 Arrested At Vehicle Checkpoint On Bhubaneswar Outskirts

Bhubaneswar, Dec 19: The Tangi police seized 53 kg of cannabis and arrested six ganja traders during a raid here this morning. The arrested persons include four males, one woman, and one unmarried girl.
The miscreants were transporting ganja in a costly car from Ganjam to Bhubaneswar when they were caught at Chhandswar Chhak on the National Highway 16 and made seizure and arrests.
Besides, the police seized mobiles and related documents from them.
The cost of the seized ganja is estimated to be over Rs 3 lakh, said SDPO Anil Kumar Mohanty and Tangi police station inspector Sushant Kumar Behera.

✨During the preliminary investigation, it was known that the arrested miscreants belonged to the Ganjam district. The ganja smuggling was caught during a vehicle check, said the SDPO.
As the police wanted to know about the contents inside, the males said the woman was ailing and being taken to a hospital. Making this plea, they showed some fake documents and requested the police to allow them to go. However, police insisted on checking and found the ganja inside the car.
The arrested persons have been identified as Anita Panda of Gosain- Nuagaon village, Sankar Pradhan, Narayan Sahu and Uttam of Beguniapada, Ajaya Sahu of Kairasi village under the Khallikote police station limits and Pinku Pradhan of Golia village under the Buguda police station limits.
