Bhubaneswar, June 14: At least five people were killed and over 15 others sustained injuries, some of them critically, in road accidents at different places in Odisha on Friday morning. 

A man and a woman were killed as their scooty hid a road divider and, as they fell, a truck ran over them at Bhakuriguda Chhack on JKpur- Rayagada road this morning.  The deceased were identified as Purendra Mahanandia of Pandrapada village under Kalyansinghpur block in Rayagada district and Manisha Begurai, a resident of Boriguma area in Koraput district. Manish was working with an NGO named Harisha Trust. 

The second fatal mishap was reported from Aska in Ganjam district. A person was killed and three others sustained critical injuries as a truck hit them at Bahadaguda Chhack under the Dharakote police station limits. They were sitting on a cemented platform when the truck rammed into them. 

Another mishap occurred at Kakapur in Puri district. Two persons died and more than 10 persons were injured, some of them critically, as a van carrying them overturned at Jagannathpur under the Kakatpur police station limits.
