Balasore, Jan 10: In a shameful act, the protectors of the common citizens, police, was physically assaulted while conducting a raid on brown sugar mafias at Jhadeswar slum in Jaleswar of Balasore district last night. 

In the attack four policemen have been injured. 

Acting on a tip-off, police raided the brown sugar smugglers in Jhadeswar slum. However, during the raid more than 10 women of the slum attacked the police officers injuring four of them.

Police have detained two of the miscreants. 

On the other hand, police have abstained from commenting on the matter.
