Ganjam, Jul 30: A 35-year-old man was killed in an accident near the cashew factory at Gopalpur Shasan, under Sorada police limits in Ganjam district on Wednesday.

The deceased has been identified as Bishu Mallik, son of Arjun Mallik of Karadabadi village.

According to reports, the incident took place when a pickup van, traveling from Sorada to Bhanjanagar, struck Bishu near the roadside.

Soon after the accident, the victim was immediately rushed to the Sorada Community Health Center. However, he was declared dead on arrival.

Later, police registered a case and initiated a probe into the incident.

The pickup van has been seized, and a detailed investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
