330 Officials Dismissed, ₹212 Crore Seized: Vigilance Director Reveals Scale of Crackdown

Bhubaneswar, Oct 28: As part of the ongoing Vigilance Awareness Week 2025, Odisha Vigilance Director Yeshwant Kumar Jethwa revealed that the state has launched an aggressive and independent drive against corruption, resulting in significant action over the past 18 months.

 

According to Jethwa, 302 cases have been registered against 432 individuals, including 90 Class-I officers such as All India Service officials, Chief Engineers, Tehsildars, Deputy Collectors, BDOs, and police officers. A total of 303 individuals have been arrested in corruption-related cases.

 

In cases involving disproportionate assets, 80 cases have been registered, leading to the seizure of assets worth ₹212 crore. These include: 24 kg of gold, 832 plots, 84 acres of land, 8 farmhouses, and ₹9 crore in cash.

Additionally, 145 government officials were arrested for accepting bribes, and 739 locations were raided. In the last nine months alone, 156 cases were filed and 177 officials arrested.

 

The Vigilance Department’s technical team has identified 403 projects linked to corruption, and 1,478 bank accounts have been frozen. Furthermore, 330 government employees have been dismissed from service for their involvement in corrupt practices.

 

Jethwa emphasized that the government is prioritizing both identification and prosecution of corrupt officials, reinforcing its zero-tolerance policy. The sweeping actions reflect the administration’s commitment to restoring public trust and ensuring clean governance.
