Bhubaneswar, Dec 2: As many as 300 trucks of potatoes came from Uttar Pradesh and reached different places in Odisha in the wee hours of Monday.

The arrival of truckloads of potatoes is likely to meet the state's needs at affordable prices. Potato prices, which currently hover above Rs 40, is likely to come down to Rs 30 per kg. 

According to the information, potato-laden trucks have reached Cuttack, Bhubaneswar, and other places for sale in local markets. Potato prices soared as the Mamata Banerjee government of West Bengal stopped the supply of potatoes to Odisha for the second time in recent months.  

Due to the short supply of potatoes, the prices soared to Rs 45 per kg in the last two to three days. The State government intervened immediately, facilitating the import of potatoes from Uttar Pradesh without delay. The price is expected to come down to Rs 30 or Rs 35.
