Cuttack, Aug 9: At least three workers suffered critical injuries after a portion of a crane collapsed on them at the expansion project of SCB Medical College and Hospital, Cuttack in Odisha on Friday.

The injured labourers have been identified as Mubarak Ansari of Bihar, Dinabandhu Behera and Bansidhar Mallick of Odisha.

As per reports, the crane was deployed for the ongoing construction for the expansion of the SCB Medical College and Hospital. It was used to lift construction materials to the top of the ten-storey building being constructed.

The victims were working on the ground when a part of the crane collapsed and fell on them, leaving the trio critically injured.

The injured labourers have been admitted to the casualty ward of SCB Medical College and Hospital.

The construction work on the expansion project of the SCB Medical College and Hospital has been halted following the mishap, sources said.

  After getting information, police reached the spot and started an investigation into the incident.
